SWORN TRANSLATION
Giving weight to words
A sworn translation, also called an official translation, is a translation that is signed and stamped by a sworn translator (a translator accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation [MAEC]). According to Spanish legislation, documents not originally written in Spanish that will have a legal effect in Spain must be duly accompanied by the corresponding sworn translation. All sworn translations must have the identification number of the sworn translator (accredited translator) along with the signature.
